ZINFANDEL (Crljenak) - Škaulj

Zinfandel is the pride of Californian wine, and this variety is actually the Kaštela Crljenak that arrived in the northeastern United States from the Imperial nursery in Vienna in the early 19th century. There it was grown as Zobatica and about thirty years later it was transferred to California. By the end of the 19th century it had become the most widespread variety in the United States. Zinfandel, or Crljenak, and Dobričić, an old Šolta variety, are most closely related, in a parent-offspring relationship, to Plavac Mali Crni.

A full-bodied, dry red wine with rich aromas of dark fruit and mild spices, with a strong Dalmatian character.
